sŏn|or, ōris, m. [sŏno] sound, resonant, toneSonoris Audio Engineering develops high-end mastering software for audio professionals. The name "Sonoris" comes from "sonorous" and means "full, rich sound". Together with "faithfully" and "pure" this forms the basis for the vision of Sonoris Audio Engineering in sound recording and engineering. Founder and owner of Sonoris is Pieter Stenekes, engineer and trumpeter. In the 80s his passions for electronics and music came together during his training as engineer. He built analog audio equipment and experimented with recording techniques. He graduated with an idiosyncratic company in audio technology at an extremely low noise microphone preamplifier, as part of a mix console. At this company Pieter could indulge himself as an audiophile with high-end audio equipment and spent many hours in the listening room. He continued his technical training in informatics to enlarge his skills with thorough digital know-how. During his career in the 90s as equipment engineer at a multinational for consumer electronics he developed into a software specialist in sophisticated digital control systems and became more and more deeply into audio processing algorithms. This resulted in the development of no-compromise audio software. As a third-party developer for SAWStudio he gained partnerships with mastering engineers as beta testers of his software. In 2004 Pieter Stenekes founded Sonoris Audio Engineering to focus full-time on the development of audio software. Meanwhile Sonoris has grown into a software house for multi-platform high-end mastering software. Software developed by Sonoris is used in mastering studios around the world. |
